Basic Facts About Diamonds

About Diamond Trade

Diamond trade has centuries of rich and exciting history, and it lends to a very special and singular marketplace. Its uniqueness is in this: that there are no two stones alike, each item is a small fortune; and sourcing the stones involves global networks of inner circles, built on years of trust and alliance. These trading communities are several layers deep; each circle winding smaller and more restricted, the closer to the origin you get.

The Four Cs

Diamonds are characterized by the Four C’s, and determining the measurable properties of the stone. Diamonds above a certain carat are typically certified by one of the known metallurgy institutions, such as HRD or the GIA.

Purchasing Diamonds

Purchasing diamonds requires skills and expertise. There is always a match between price and quality. Quality is the sum of stone’s Four C’s + its properties, leaving infinite combinations.
