Full agenda awaits WFDB General Assembly at World Diamond Congress in Moscow

Antwerp, Belgium -- July 8: A full agenda awaits the members of the General Assembly of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses, who will gather next week in Moscow at the 34th World Diamond Congress, which will run from Sunday, July 11, to Tuesday July 13, at the Ritz-Carlton Moscow Hotel.
Held every two years, the World Diamond Congress serves as forum of the General Assembly of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB). The congress is being is hosted by the Diamond Chamber of Russia and the Russian Diamond Manufacturers Association, in cooperation with the Moscow Diamond Bourse.
High on the agenda will be an open discussion about the role of the WFDB in a diamond business in an economy that is now recovering from the severest financial downturn since the Great Depression of the 1930s. In a pre-congress message to WFDB members, WFDB President Avi Paz called on attendees to "come well prepared and offer suggestions and constructive ideas that will contribute to the advancement of the diamond business in what is now called the 'new normal' economy."
Making a formal application for WFDB membership at the congress in Moscow is the South Korean Diamond Exchange, which will be represented by its president Jae Kim. Based in Gyeongju Gyeongbuk, the bourse is currently developing a secure, state-of-the-art facility. It is the first diamond exchange to be established in the fast growing diamond market on the Korean Peninsula.
The first day of the congress, July 11, will feature meetings of the Trade and Promotion Committee, Judicial Committee and Executive Committee. It will conclude with a Welcome Dinner. The congress' official Opening Ceremony will take place on the morning of July 12, and it will be followed working session of the WFDB General Assembly. The day will conclude with a Gala Dinner. The concluding day of the congress, July 13, will also feature a working session and it will end in the early afternoon with a press conference.
Participants who will journey to the World Diamond Council Annual Meeting in St. Petersburg, which opens on July 14, will be able to catch a late afternoon or early evening flight or train.
